Premier League Boss: Leicester Give Hope To All

Leicester City have given every team hope of matching their remarkable achievement and becoming English champions, according to Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore.

Speaking as Leicester celebrated their triumph, Scudamore said the achievement was the greatest story in football and sporting history, and would change the way the other Premier League clubs approach the game in future.

"It's absolutely incredible, that's all you can say. Nobody expected it," Scudamore told Sky News. "We sit here and say we want unpredictability, but who could have thought it would throw this up?

"I can't think of a comparison in any sport ever, I certainly can't think of one in football, which is the biggest sport, so I think it's the greatest story in sport.

"It gives every one of those clubs hope that the order of things can be changed. Whether that is once every 5,000 years, once every 100 years, or once every other year we don't know, and really that is the most exciting thing."

Leicester were 5,000-1 outsiders at the start of the season but defied the odds, and the financial might of the four richest clubs that have shared the title for 20 years, to win the league with two games to spare.

Scudamore says that achievement, on a transfer budget of just £23m for the starting XI, will change the way their rivals approach next season.

"The whole Leicester phenomenon alters life for everyone. There will be a lot of people questioning 'Why didn't we achieve more with what we had?' Others will be asking 'Why didn't we do X?'

"It sets a different bar for everybody and mood for everybody that will bring its own challenges. But I also know there will be genuine warmth and delight among the other clubs at Leicester's success because ultimately an admiration has grown around the whole league for what Leicester has achieved."

Leicester will be champions in the first year of a new broadcast deal that will take guaranteed revenue for each club to at least £100m, and Scudamore believes the resources have helped increase chances of success across the league.

"If everyone has got resources, everyone can put a squad together, therefore it brings into play other factors, it brings teamwork and management more into focus.

"But this is something bigger than the money, the dynamic is much bigger than any financial formula."
