Pret A Manger is reopening a number of sites from the latest lockdown

(PA)

Pret A Manger, the sandwich chain that, like rivals, has seen customer levels plunge due to the pandemic, has given an update on which London branches will reopen from the latest lockdown.

The company permanently closed around 30 sites last year after the virus crisis hammered the hospitality sector.

Pret A Manger said that as of today, 276 of its UK shops are open for takeaway and delivery. From 12 April, it will have 323 in total that will be ready to welcome customers.

It added that it will offer outdoor seating across as many of those shops as possible.

Monday is when the hospitality sector can start serving people outdoors again and when non-essential retailers can reopen. High street businesses are hoping footfall will start drastically improving as the lockdown begins to ease.
