Updated article on 22/04/21: Prince Harry has vowed to continue Prince Philip's legacy in a sweet tribute on World Earth Day.

On Thursday, royal reporter Omid Scobie shared a video about Africa titled 'Hope Starts Here', which is narrated by the Duke of Sussex.

In a statement shared on Twitter about the clip and the annual event, the royal described his late grandfather - who passed away on April 9 - as a 'conservation champion'.

‘As we now begin to move towards an era of global recovery and regeneration, it’s critical that we continue to look at the strengthening and protecting of biodiversity, not just as a value we hold – but as a responsibility that is vital to our way of life,' he reportedly shared.

The royal has been President of African Parks - a non-profit conservation organisation - since 2017 and previously spent time working on projects in Namibia, Tanzania, South Africa and Botswana.

Botswana holds an importance place in the Duke's heart as it is where he camped under the stars with his now wife Meghan Markle in 2016, and is where one of her engagement ring diamonds is sourced from.

Article originally published on 12/04/21: Prince Harry has paid tribute to his late grandfather, Prince Philip, in the days after the 99-year-old's passing.

Moments after his elder brother Prince William shared a photograph of his eldest son Prince George with his great-grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, in a public homage, the Duke of Sussex issued a statement via the homepage of his foundation Archewell's website.

'My grandfather was a man of service, honour and great humour. He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm—and also because you never knew what he might say next,' the statement began.

The Duke of Sussex also referenced personal memories of his grandfather, stating: 'To me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ‘til the end.'

Crediting the duke's 'unparalleled devotion' to his grandmother, the Queen, the royal said his grandfather would be saying: 'Beer in hand, "Oh do get on with it".'

Rounding off his statement, Prince Harry thanked his grandfather for his service and 'dedication to Granny', saying the Duke of Edinburgh will always 'hold a special place' in the hearts of 'Meghan, Archie and I (as well as your future great-granddaughter)'.

Prince Harry signed off his statement, ‘Per Mare, Per Terram’ which translates to 'by land, by sea' - a nod to both his and his grandfather's shared military backgrounds.

According to reports, Prince William's younger brother Prince Harry arrived from the United States in London on Sunday in preparation for the funeral which is scheduled to take place in Windsor on Saturday, April 17.

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex - who is pregnant with the couple's second child - was advised not to fly by her physician, her representatives have said.
