Prince Harry is set to sit down with wife Meghan Markle for a tell all chat with Oprah Winfry - here’s his top interviews
(AFP)Prince Harry is one of the most famous men on earth - and is no stranger to a television appearance or interview.
But even for him, this weekend’s two-hour, tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey is going to be one of the biggest of his life.
Broadcast on Sunday in the States, the Duke of Sussex is expected to join his wife, Meghan Markle, 39, part-way through the CBS special where the couple will reflect on their life together and their decision to step back as senior royals last year.
Followers of the royal couple, whose son Archie turns two in May, enjoyed somewhat of a preview of Harry’s take on the couple stepping back from royal life and leaving the UK - a move dubbed “megxit” - at the end of February, when Harry appeared on the Late Late Show in a wide-ranging interview with host James Corden.

During the clip, which lasted about 20 minutes, Harry insisted that he will “never walk away” from the royal family and he did “what any husband or father would do” by emigrating to America.
The Duke of Sussex said he had “stepped back not stepped away” because his mental health was being “destroyed” and maintained that his “life is public service”.
As the world prepares for this new, dramatic interview, we take a look at Prince Harry’s five best on-screen moments until now.
1- Harry’s candid 21st birthday interview
In a narrative that would come to dominate his life, Prince Harry suggests the media print untruthful stories about him during a frank chat to mark his 21st birthday in 2005.
In it, he discussed his relationship with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who months before had married his father Prince Charles, saying he and his brother William adored her.
Wearing a blue and white checked shirt and green khaki trousers for the chat, filmed at his father’s Home Farm in Gloucestershire, he also spoke about then-girlfriend Chelsy Davy with Harry saying she was "special" and "amazing" - but had been left upset by endless press attention.
Prince Harry, then an army cadet training at Sandhurst, told journalists he was sorry for the infamous incident when he wore a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party.
He said he was looking forward to representing his country through the armed forces.
"The last thing I said was there’s no way I’m going to put myself through Sandhurst and then sit on my arse back home while my boys are out fighting for their country.
"That may sound very patriotic, but it’s true. It’s not the way anyone should really work," he said.
2 - Harry on deployment in Afghanistan… where he runs to his helicopter
In 2012, Prince Harry was deployed for four months to Afghanistan in his role as an Apache helicopter pilot.
Then the third in line to the British throne, he was stationed at Camp Bastion in Helmand province with the 100-strong 662 Squadron.
He had been deployed to Afghanistan four years previously - but was removed due to security concerns following a leak of his whereabouts.
Harry gave an interview over Christmas 2012 where he gave a tour of his camp in Afghanistan.
Looking relaxed while wearing a Santa hat, the young royal showed cameras where he slept and ate.
He also gave reporters a tour of his helicopter… and answered how he went to the toilet while flying.
Harry was also forced to throw off his microphone mid sentence and sprint to his helicopter in a dramatic moment of the interview.
3- ITV interview where he addresses “rift” with brother William
ITV followed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their 2019 tour of Africa. While Meghan showed signs she struggling with the media scrutiny whilst raising her young son, Archie, Harry also spoke about his mental health
He said the death of his mother Diana is still a "wound that festers" as he retraced her footsteps in Malawi, Botswana, and Angola, where he highlighted his mother’s anti-landmine work 22 years after her death.
Harry also addressed rumors of a rift between him and Prince William.
"Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure that it’s under... stuff happens," Harry said. "But look we’re brothers. We’ll always be brothers.
“We’re certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and as I know he’ll always be there for me... We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we’re so busy but I love him dearly."
4- Harry speaks out about “Megxit”
In early 2020, the couple stunned the world by announcing they would be stepping back as senior royals.
At the end of January, Harry spoke openly about making the “sad” decision to leave the UK - admitting it was not a decision he took “lightly.”
Speaking in a speech at a fundraiser for Sentebale - his charity founded to help the wellbeing of children and young people affected by HIV in Lesotho and Botswana, Harry said: “I can only imagine what you have heard or perhaps read over the past few weeks. I want you to hear the truth from me, as much as I can share.
“The UK is my home and a place I love. That will never change. I watched as you welcomed Meghan with open arms as you saw me find the love and happiness I had hoped for my whole life.”
He continued: “It brings me great sadness that it has come to this. [The decision] Is not one I made lightly.”
The family then travelled to their temporary home in Canada to start their new life before moving to Los Angeles.
5 - Prince Harry chats to James Corden on the Late Late Show
In an extraordinary interview with James Corden, Harry said he would “never walk away” from the royal family.
In a wide-ranging chat, Harry opened up about his relationship with Meghan, their son Archie, the Queen — and even rapped the theme tune to The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air outside the mansion where it was filmed.
Describing his and Meghan’s decision to leave the UK, he said: “It was never walking away. It was stepping back rather than stepping down.
“It was a really difficult environment, which I think a lot of people saw. So I did what any father or husband would do and thought ‘how do I get my family out of here’.”
During the interview — much of which was carried out on an open-top bus tour around Los Angeles — Corden video-called Meghan, who revealed that her nickname for the prince is “Haz.”
He also revealed how his relationship with Meghan “went from zero to 60 in the first two months”, Archie’s first word was “crocodile” and the Queen bought Archie a waffle maker for Christmas, which they use most days.
