Prince Philip is being treated for an infection and likely won't leave hospital for several days, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
The Duke of Edinburgh, 99, has been treated at the King Edward VII private hospital in central London for the past week.
In a short statement on Tuesday afternoon, Buckingham Palace said: “The Duke of Edinburgh remains at King Edward VII’s Hospital where he is receiving medical attention for an infection.
“He is comfortable and responding to treatment but is not expected to leave hospital for several days.”
He was taken in last Tuesday on his doctor's advice, though the palace stressed it was out of "an abundance of caution".
It was understood he was not being treated for anything coronavirus related. He and the Queen have had their first coronavirus vaccines.

Philip's grandson Prince William offered a short update on his health on Monday during a visit to a vaccination centre in Norfolk, where he said he was "okay".
And in an interview with Sky News, Prince Edward, the youngest son of the Queen and Prince Philip said he was "a lot better" and "looking forward to getting out".
He laughed when asked if the duke was frustrated at being in hospital and said: "Just a bit. I think that gets to all of us, you can only watch the clock so many times and the walls are only so interesting.
"We've had some brilliant and lovely messages from all sorts of people and we appreciate it."
Prince Charles, Philip and the Queen's oldest son, visited him over the weekend, spending about 30 minutes in the hospital with him.
It's reported he wanted to visit his father because of the "extended stay".

Philip is known to have a "no fuss" attitude, and royal author Penny Junor previously joked he might be a tricky patient.
She told BBC Breakfast: "This is a man who doesn’t want any fuss made of his 100th birthday, so the fact he’s in hospital and getting some fuss made of him will really irritate him."
Speaking about Charles's visit, while she did not know the reason for it, she told PA: "Momentous things are happening in the family at the moment and I suppose it’s perfectly possible that Charles wanted to go and talk to his father and reassure him about Harry."
The prince was said to have walked into hospital unaided on 16 February as a non-emergency admission.
Philip spent four nights in hospital in December 2019, and was discharged in time for Christmas.
In April 2018, he spent nine days in hospital after a planned hip operation.
In June 2013, he spent 11 days in hospital after he was admitted for an exploratory operation on his abdomen. He spent two months recuperating in Sandringham after he was discharged.
