Produce Investments chairman buys shares showing confidence

LONDON (ShareCast) - The chairman of Produce Investments bought some new shares showing confidence in the group after disappointing first half of the year. Barrie Clapham bought 100,000 shares for an individual price of 127p, spending a total of £127,000 in the transaction.

Clapham now holds 6.3m shares in the potato farming and supply firm, which saw a 3.8% decline in first-half profits to £1.95m due to "very challenging" market conditions. Revenues also fell 9.9% to £80.76m.

Chief executive Angus Armstrong said at the time: "The much-documented retailer price wars triggered significant pricing pressure throughout the entire supply chain, resulting in value and volume decline over the past 12 months."
