Dating from the 1920s and 1930s, Art Deco architecture always stands out from the crowd. ‘The lure of Art Deco property is undeniable. 1. Balham, London SW17, £280,000
This bright studio flat consists of a studio room with fitted wardrobes, a separate kitchen and a shower room. It’s on the fifth floor of Du Cane Court, which comprises 677 apartments and was said to be Europe’s largest privately-owned block when it was built in 1937. Original features such as Crittall windows, and revolving doors and marbled pillars in the lobby have been retained, and the building might strike a chord with fans of detective dramas as it has appeared in ITV’s Poirot. These are spread over the first and second floors of the original building, now called Gatsby House, and a commercial tenant is being sought for the ground floor.
