The Queen has revealed the official emblem of her Platinum Jubilee after a board of judges chose from a national competition entries.

The winning design features a crown on a purple background surrounded by the words, “The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022.”

The logo was designed by “19 year old Edward Roberts, a graphic design student from Nottinghamshire” explained a post on the Royal Family’s official social media account. The competition to find the emblem was run by the V&A museum and Buckingham Palace.

The jubilee emblem was revealed in an Instagram post alongside a photo of Edward with his winning design. The post explained that the choice of the colour purple pays tribute to “the Robe of Estate, worn by The Queen at the Coronation.”

The “continuous platinum line” which runs around the circular design has been included to symbolise “the Queen’s 70 years as Monarch,” while the font of the lettering reflected the official Order of Service from the Coronation Day.

The emblem is available to download for free in English and Welsh and has been designed to take centre-stage on everything from bunting to fairy cakes during next year’s celebrations.

Her Majesty’s 2022 Jubilee celebrations are expected to be marked with a number of events, from street parties and concerts to an additional four-day bank holiday in the event’s honour.

The Queen was just 21 years old when she took to the throne following the death of her father, King George VI. Her Diamond Jubilee will commemorate a record-breaking 70 years of rule.
