Yahoo Finance The Queen will no longer be attending the COP26 summit
It has been confirmed that The Queen will not be attending the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP26, in Glasgow at the end of the month, following medical advice from her doctors.
In an official statement, the Palace wrote: "Following advice to rest, The Queen has been undertaking light duties at Windsor Castle. Her Majesty has regretfully decided that she will no longer travel to Glasgow to attend the Evening Reception of COP26 on Monday, 1st November.
"Her Majesty is disappointed not to attend the reception but will deliver an address to the assembled delegates via a recorded video message."
The video is slated to be recorded later this week.
This news comes after the 95-year-old Monarch was admitted to London’s King Edward VII private hospital last Wednesday after she underwent “preliminary investigations” for an unspecified ailment, which was confirmed not to be related to Covid-19.
After being discharged from hospital the following day, royal officials confirmed that the Queen was in good spirits and that she would be returning to light duties in Windsor Castle that day.
The Prime Minister was quick to send his well wishes, saying: "I think everybody sends Her Majesty our very, very best wishes. And certainly we have from the Government. But I'm given to understand that actually Her Majesty is characteristically back at her desk at Windsor as we speak. But we send her every possible good wish."
On Tuesday, she carried out her first official engagement since her hospital stint, meeting the ambassador from the Republic of Korea, Gunn Kim, during a virtual audience from Windsor Castle.
