The quickest way to clean a mirror

How long do you spend in the front of the mirror in the morning? Because it's something that we look at every day, it's easy to miss dirt, dust and grime building up on your mirror, but it really makes a difference once you get it clean.

For that streak-free finish every time, here's our simple guide.

How to clean a mirror

  1. Begin by removing stubborn stains. For mirrors in your bathroom or on your dressing table, hairspray, makeup and fake tan can often leave tough stains. These can be removed by wiping your mirror with a little rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth.

  2. Next, spray your mirror with a glass cleaner or your preferred cleaning solution.

  3. Use a microfibre cloth to wipe the mirror. Work from edge to edge and then top to bottom, don't use a circular motion.

  4. To check your mirror is clean and streak-free, trying moving around the room to look at it from different angles. Any smears or fingermarks can be removed by buffing it with a little white vinegar and paper towels for a sparkling, smear-free finish.

How to stop a mirror from steaming up

To stop the mirror steaming up, wipe it with a drop of neat (not diluted) washing up liquid. Next, buff the liquid in with kitchen paper. Doing this will leave your mirror clear, even if it’s in a steamy bathroom, for around a fortnight.
