Ranvir Singh dismisses rumours of romance with 'Strictly' dance partner Giovanni Pernice

Ranvir Singh has shot down rumours of a romance between her and Strictly Come Dancing partner Giovanni Pernice.

The 43-year-old Good Morning Britain newsreader was asked directly by co-host Piers Morgan to respond to reports that 30-year-old Pernice was keen to bring an end to the rumours that the couple were getting close off the dancefloor.

Singh said: “No! Of course not, there really isn’t.”

Her comments come after she and Pernice performed a passionate tango on the show at the weekend, which saw them appear to come close to kissing on the dancefloor.

Singh said: “We get on. I suppose what it is is there’s a performance element – it’s all about telling a story between two people... He’s so much about the energy of the performance.”

Pernice has previously dated three of his former Strictly dance partners - Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote, 29, TOWIE star Jess Wright, 35, and Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, 39.

He split from 2018 Strictly runner-up Roberts in January after one year of dating.

Singh – who is a single mother to eight-year-old son Tushaan – previously said: “If I got hit by the curse, it would be a bloody miracle! Oh my God, that would be hilarious. Do you know most of the dancers were born in 1990 or something? I’m old enough to be their mother! It’s very optimistic and complimentary that anyone would think I would be struck by the curse.”

Last weekend saw Men Behaving Badly actress Caroline Quentin sent home after landing in the dance off with ex-EastEnder Maisie Smith.

Quentin, who had said at the start of Strictly that she wanted to fulfil a childhood dream of being a dancer, said: “I have had the honour and privilege of working with some of the greatest dancers this country has ever known, I think they are absolutely fantastic.”

Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing and his partner Karen Hauer were the surprise leaders of the scores on Saturday night with 29 points for their couple’s choice street dance routine.
