Raptors' Chris Boucher leaves game vs. Nets with knee sprain, did not return

Toronto Raptors forward Chris Boucher left Wednesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets with a left knee sprain and did not return.

Boucher suffered the injury while going up for a rebound, colliding with Nets forward Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot under the basket. Luwawu-Cabarrot landed on Boucher's foot, bending awkwardly upon contact.

After writhing in pain, Boucher was taken to the locker room with the assistance of trainers. He posted four points and seven rebounds in 11 minutes before leaving.

After the game, Raptors head coach Nick Nurse confirmed Boucher will undergo an MRI for further testing. Boucher is playing some of the best basketball of his career, posting 31 points and 12 rebounds against Oklahoma City on April 18, along with a tour-de-force performance against the Chicago Bulls on April 8, where he recorded 38 points and 19 rebounds, both career-bests.

Boucher also serves an idealized version of what comes of the Raptors' player development model, graduating from 2019 G League MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, to a key component of the team's rotation, in a transition year from championship contender to fringe playoff team.

Toronto held on for a 114-103 victory over a short-handed Brooklyn side, but will now await an update on Boucher's status.
