Raptors' Siakam, Gasol, Powell out indefinitely due to injuries

The Toronto Raptors have been hit extremely hard by the injury bug lately and several key players will now be out of the lineup for the foreseeable future.

The club announced that Pascal Siakam (stretched groin) and Norman Powell (subluxation of left shoulder) will both be out indefinitely.

The news came after it was reported earlier on Thursday that Marc Gasol would miss several weeks with a hamstring injury. The Raptors confirmed Gasol’s ailment, also stating that he will be out indefinitely.

The team has been without guard Fred VanVleet who has missed the last five games with a knee injury as well. He is, however, questionable to appear in Friday’s game against the Washington Wizards, according to the NBA’s injury report.

Siakam, the NBA’s Most Improved Player during the 2018-19 season, has taken another step forward with his game this year. Through 27 contests, the power forward is averaging 25.1 points, 8 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

Powell was performing very well, stepping up in VanVleet’s absence. The shooting guard logged 30 minutes or more in seven of the last 10 games and recorded 20 points or more in five of those matches.
