Read This Before Selling Arlo Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:ARLO) Shares

We've lost count of how many times insiders have accumulated shares in a company that goes on to improve markedly. The flip side of that is that there are more than a few examples of insiders dumping stock prior to a period of weak performance. So before you buy or sell Arlo Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:ARLO), you may well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling.

What Is Insider Buying?

It's quite normal to see company insiders, such as board members, trading in company stock, from time to time. However, such insiders must disclose their trading activities, and not trade on inside information.

We don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions. But equally, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether. As Peter Lynch said, 'insiders might sell their shares for any number of reasons, but they buy them for only one: they think the price will rise.'

Arlo Technologies Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

C. Lo made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$400k worth of shares at a price of US$16.00 each. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$3.88 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares is very important. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

Happily, we note that in the last year insiders bought 133k shares for a total of US$1.0m. While Arlo Technologies insiders bought shares last year, they didn't sell. They paid about US$7.79 on average. I'd consider this a positive as it suggests insiders see value at around the current price.
