Rebel Wilson is out there living her best life during her self-proclaimed 'Year of Health,' and she took some time on Tuesday to talk to fans about how she achieved her wellness goals over the last year.

Rebel opened up in an Instagram Live and it’s kind of hard to miss the fact that she looks super happy right now. 'I really just felt like having a chat with everyone,' she said, as she kicked things off.

Rebel, who recently shared in an Instagram Story that she got down to her goal weight of 165 pounds with a month to spare, got candid about her previous bad habits and how she changed them. (She said that she ended up losing about 61 pounds.)

'I was determined in 2020, the Year of Health, to actually fully change my whole entire lifestyle,' she said. 'So it meant not only physically but mentally as well.'

According to Rebel, her diet was 'pretty bad' in the past, but she now focuses on eating a lot of protein. 'My body just responds well to protein,' she said. Among other things, Rebel says she has a lot of salmon, chicken breast, and protein shakes.

She’s also watching her daily calorie intake. 'Nutritionally, the only thing is I do try to stay under 1,500 calories because of my body type,' she said. 'If want to lose weight in that week, I kind of have to stay under the 1,500 each day.'

But Rebel said she’ll probably start eating a little more on a daily basis—between 2,000 and 2,500 calories a day—since she’s reached her goal weight. 'I do need a little bit more now that I’ve hit my goal weight and maintaining it,' she said.

Rebel didn’t ~just~ start eating better: She now exercises regularly, too. 'I’m in a lucky position,' she said. 'I do have access to really amazing personal trainers but I want you guys to know that the majority of the exercise that I’ve done this year has just been me going out for a walk. That is free. You can do it. It’s safe.' Rebel said she’ll listen to playlists, audiobooks, and podcasts while she walks, BTW.

She also encouraged other people to try it. 'I know it’s getting colder, but just give it a go,' she said. 'If you can do an hour, that’s what I like to do when I go walking, it is the best. Just get your body moving.' (Worth noting: Jessica Simpson also said walking was a huge part of her weight loss after having her daughter, Birdie.)

Rebel said she works out six days a week now, and loves doing a mix of cardio and weight lifting. 'Ladies, don’t be afraid of weights,' she said. 'I fricking love lifting weights. It just makes you feel, like, really strong.'

Rebel also said that she’s 'glad' that she went on this journey. 'The goal was never to be skinny,' she said. 'It was never to fit into a certain dress size. I put in a goal weight in there because I needed some tangible thing.'

But Rebel said “it was time” for her to make her health a priority, pointing out that she’s been “overweight for about 20 years.” Now, she said, she’s “proud” of her accomplishment and “having a lot more balance now in my life."

Congrats, Rebel!
