The end of the earnings season is always a good time to take a step back and see who shined (and who not so much). Let’s take a look at how sales and marketing software stocks fared in Q2, starting with Sprinklr (NYSE:CXM).

The Internet and the exploding amount of data have transformed how businesses interact with, market to, and transact with their customers. Personalization of offerings, e-commerce, targeted advertising and data-empowered sales teams are now table stakes for modern businesses, and sales and marketing software providers are becoming the tools of evolving customer interaction.

The Fed cut its policy rate by 50bps (half a percent) in September 2024, the first in roughly four years. This marks the end of its most pointed inflation-busting campaign since the 1980s. While CPI (inflation) readings have been supportive lately, employment measures have bordered on worrisome. The markets will be assessing whether this rate cut's timing (and more potential ones in 2024 and 2025) is ideal for supporting the economy or a bit too late for a macro that has already cooled too much.

Thankfully, sales and marketing software stocks have been resilient with share prices up 6.7% on average since the latest earnings results.

Sprinklr (NYSE:CXM)

Initially focused only on social media management, Sprinklr (NYSE: CXM) is a leading provider of unified customer experience management software.

Sprinklr reported revenues of $197.2 million, up 10.5% year on year. This print exceeded analysts’ expectations by 1.5%. Despite the top-line beat, it was still a mixed quarter for the company with strong sales guidance for the next quarter but decelerating growth in large customers.

Unsurprisingly, the stock is down 17.1% since reporting and currently trades at $7.12.

Best Q2: Zeta (NYSE:ZETA)

Co-founded by former Apple CEO John Scully, Zeta Global (NYSE:ZETA) provides software and data analytics tools that help companies market their products to billions of customers.

Zeta reported revenues of $227.8 million, up 32.6% year on year, outperforming analysts’ expectations by 7.2%. The business had an exceptional quarter with an impressive beat of analysts’ billings estimates and optimistic revenue guidance for the next quarter.

Zeta pulled off the biggest analyst estimates beat among its peers. The market seems happy with the results as the stock is up 51.8% since reporting. It currently trades at $32.60.

Weakest Q2: PubMatic (NASDAQ:PUBM)

Founded in 2006 as an online ad platform helping ad sellers, Pubmatic (NASDAQ: PUBM) is a fully integrated cloud-based programmatic advertising platform.

PubMatic reported revenues of $67.27 million, up 6.2% year on year, falling short of analysts’ expectations by 4.1%. It was a disappointing quarter as it posted underwhelming revenue guidance for the next quarter.

As expected, the stock is down 24.1% since the results and currently trades at $14.88.

Salesforce (NYSE:CRM)

Launched in 1999 from a rented one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco by Marc Benioff and his three co-founders, Salesforce (NYSE:CRM) is a software-as-a-service platform that helps companies access, manage, and share sales information.

Salesforce reported revenues of $9.33 billion, up 8.4% year on year. This number was in line with analysts’ expectations. However, it was a mixed quarter as it failed to impress in some other areas of the business.

The stock is up 12.5% since reporting and currently trades at $291.49.

Wix (NASDAQ:WIX)

Founded in 2006 in Tel Aviv, Wix.com (NASDAQ:WIX) offers a free and easy to operate website building platform.

Wix reported revenues of $435.7 million, up 11.7% year on year. This number was in line with analysts’ expectations. Aside from that, it was a satisfactory quarter as it also logged a solid beat of analysts’ billings estimates but full-year revenue guidance missing analysts’ expectations.

The stock is flat since reporting and currently trades at $157.93.
