Regal Rexnord (NYSE:RRX) Will Pay A Dividend Of $0.35

Regal Rexnord Corporation (NYSE:RRX) has announced that it will pay a dividend of $0.35 per share on the 14th of July. Including this payment, the dividend yield on the stock will be 1.1%, which is a modest boost for shareholders' returns.

Regal Rexnord's Payment Has Solid Earnings Coverage

Even a low dividend yield can be attractive if it is sustained for years on end. However, Regal Rexnord's earnings easily cover the dividend. As a result, a large proportion of what it earned was being reinvested back into the business.

Over the next year, EPS is forecast to expand by 102.3%. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 9.9% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

Regal Rexnord Has A Solid Track Record

The company has an extended history of paying stable dividends. Since 2013, the annual payment back then was $0.76, compared to the most recent full-year payment of $1.40. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 6.3% per annum over that time. Companies like this can be very valuable over the long term, if the decent rate of growth can be maintained.

The Dividend Has Growth Potential

Some investors will be chomping at the bit to buy some of the company's stock based on its dividend history. Regal Rexnord has impressed us by growing EPS at 9.1% per year over the past five years. With a decent amount of growth and a low payout ratio, we think this bodes well for Regal Rexnord's prospects of growing its dividend payments in the future.

We Really Like Regal Rexnord's Dividend

In summary, it is good to see that the dividend is staying consistent, and we don't think there is any reason to suspect this might change over the medium term. The company is easily earning enough to cover its dividend payments and it is great to see that these earnings are being translated into cash flow. All of these factors considered, we think this has solid potential as a dividend stock.

Market movements attest to how highly valued a consistent dividend policy is compared to one which is more unpredictable. Meanwhile, despite the importance of dividend payments, they are not the only factors our readers should know when assessing a company.
