Yahoo Finance Report: Britt Reid 'no longer' a Chiefs employee after car crash that critically injured young girl
Britt Reid is "no longer an employee" of the Kansas City Chiefs after his involvement in a car crash that left a 5-year-old girl hospitalized with brain injuries, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
According to Schefter, the Chiefs placed Reid on leave "through the duration of his contract, which has since expired."
The Chiefs, who announced on Tuesday that Reid was on administrative leave, confirmed the report to KCTV5 in Kansas City. The exact dates of Reid's leave and contract expiration are unclear. Kansas City's season ended Sunday at the Super Bowl.
Police: Reid admitted to drinking before collision
Reid was the team's outside linebackers coach and the son of head coach Andy Reid.
According to a police report, Reid, 35, admitted to having two to three drinks in addition to prescription Adderall before driving his truck and crashing into two cars pulled off the side of a Missouri highway near the Chiefs facility last Thursday.

The crash left 5-year-old Ariel Young hospitalized in critical condition with bleeding and swelling in her brain. Young's 4-year-old cousin Julianna also reportedly suffered a concussion and broken nose in the collision.
As of Tuesday, Young remained unconscious and in critical condition in a Missouri hospital, according to her aunt, Tiffany Verhulst. Verhulst set up a GoFundMe page to help Young's mother Felicia Miller with medical bills and has provided updates on Young's status. She did not provide an update on Wednesday as of the time of this post.
Reid also suffered injuries in the crash that required surgery. He did not travel with the Chiefs to Tampa for the Super Bowl. He had worked for his father’s Chiefs since 2013 in various coaching roles. He also worked on his father’s staff with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Reid's past legal, substance trouble
Reid has documented substance abuse struggles and spent five months in jail in 2007 after a Philadelphia road-rage incident. He pleaded guilty to accusations of pointing a gun at another driver while in possession of a controlled substance. He also pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in a separate 2007 incident.
Reid has not been charged amid the ongoing investigation into last week's crash. Officials are awaiting the results of a toxicology report and are reportedly investigating whether cell-phone use played a role in the crash.
