King Henrik has found his new home.

Henrik Lundqvist signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Washington Capitals as the free-agent window opened on Friday.

Lundqvist would still make $4.5 million for the upcoming season, with $3 million as part of his buyout from the New York Rangers.

The 38-year-old spent the first 15 seasons of his career with the Rangers, earning five All-Star selections and the Vezina Trophy in 2012. New York announced it would buy out Lundqvist’s contract on Sept. 30.

Capitals incumbent starter Braden Holtby is an unrestricted free agent, so Lundqvist will almost certainly work in tandem with Ilya Samsonov in 2020-21.

Lundqvist posted a 10-12-3 record, with a .905 save percentage, a 3.16 GAA and -4.16 GSAA (goals saved above average) last season.
