Report: Domestic assault charges against Raptors' Terence Davis dismissed

The New York District Attorney's office has dismissed charges against Toronto Raptors guard Terence Davis, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Davis faced seven counts, including two charges of assault in the third degree and one count of child endangerment, stemming from an incident in a New York hotel room last October. Police reports said Davis sent a woman to the hospital with bruising in her eye and smashed her cell phone during a domestic dispute with their child present.

Five counts were dismissed, but Davis is still facing counts of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, according to Blake Murphy of The Athletic.

The Raptors initially responded by adhering to the joint domestic abuse policy agreed to by the NBA and NBA Players’ Association. With charges being dismissed, it is unlikely the league will take any disciplinary actions towards the 23-year-old. The Raptors also did their own investigation, with president Masai Ujiri saying the front office consulted members of staff on their level of comfort in continuing to work with Davis, who has made 23 appearances this season.
