The Rest of 'Bridgerton' Likely Won't Focus on Daphne at All

From Good Housekeeping

While watching Bridgerton on Netflix, you may find it difficult to keep track of who's who in the group — you've got the Featheringtons, the Bridgertons, and the Cowpers, among socialites like Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Marina Thompson (Ruby Barker). But as we enter season 2, it'll be particuarly important to get to know each character well.

Beyond season 1, it's expected that each subsequent season created will follow the events laid out in Julia Quinn's eight-novel Bridgerton series. If that's the case, each new season may focus on a different Bridgerton sibling's journey to finding true love — first up was Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), while Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) is expected to take center stage next season.

To keep you up to speed while finishing up season 1 (and prep you for what's ahead), read on for full descriptions about the Bridgerton children and how they will likely be featured in later seasons of the show (that is, assuming Netflix continues to adapt Julia's books for TV). Warning, potential spoilers below!

Anthony Bridgerton

Age: 30

Played by: Jonathan Bailey

The eldest sibling of the Bridgerton family takes on the role of Viscount in season 1, trying (yet often failing) to help his sister Daphne find the most suitable match to marry. Despite knowing Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) from their school days, Anthony and the Duke of Hastings are at odds for much of season 1, eventually leading to a dangerous duel between the two. Meanwhile, Anthony is hiding his secret affair with opera singer Siena Rosso (Sabrina Bartlett) and becomes conflicted about his own love life. In the second season, which will likely be based on Julia's book The Viscount Who Loved Me, Anthony is expected to find the love of his life ... in the most unexpected way.

Benedict Bridgerton

Age: 27

Played by: Luke Thompson

Perhaps the second Bridgerton child's most notable moment in season 1 of the series came after he accidentally insulted artist Henry Granville (Julian Ovenden)'s work. Later on, he meets Henry at his studio and begins creating art. He makes another big appearance before Anthony and Simon's duel, demanding that his older brother make him his second. The third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, focuses on Benedict's encounter with true love after meeting the mysterious Sophia Beckett.

Colin Bridgerton

Age: 22

Played by: Luke Newton

The man of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan)'s dreams has quite the scandal in season 1. After announcing his intentions to marry Marina, Lady Whistledown revealed in her gossip column that Marina was secretly expecting. At the end of the first season, Colin tells Penelope that he's going abroad, leaving the youngest Featherington distraught. As fans of Julia's novels know, Colin and Penelope have a shot at romance once again in the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.

Daphne Bridgerton

Age: 21

Played by: Phoebe Dynevor

The fourth child and eldest daughter is front and center in season 1 of the hit show. After finding favor with Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), Daphne begins her journey of finding her perfect match. Eventually, she meets the Duke of Hastings and the two devise a romantic scheme together. Over time, however, the two eventually fall in love and end up marrying. In the end of the first season, Daphne takes on the role of duchess and has a child with Simon.

Eloise Bridgerton

Age: 17

Played by: Claudia Jessie

As viewers of the show come to learn quickly, the fifth eldest Bridgerton is not into the idea of getting married and would much rather focus on her education. At times, she comes into conflict with Daphne and is especially nervous when her older sister gets engaged (as the attention will then shift to her finding a husband). Despite her reluctance to love, Eloise's life changes when she gets to know Sir Phillip Crane (Chris Fulton) in the fifth book, To Sir Phillip, With Love.

Francesca Bridgerton

Age: ~16

Played by: Ruby Stokes

Not too much is known yet about Francesca, the sixth-eldest child and third daughter of the Bridgerton family. She appears here and there in season 1, but will likely have her time in the sun in season 6, since the sixth book in the series, When He Was Wicked, details her later marriages to John Stirling and Michael Stirling.

Gregory Bridgerton

Age: Preteen

Played by: Will Tilston

Like Francesca, the first season of the Netflix show doesn't really focus on Gregory because of his young age. But according to Julia's eighth book, On the Way to the Wedding, when Gregory is of age, he will follow his siblings' footsteps and find his match.

Hyacinth Bridgerton

Age: Preteen

Played by: Florence Hunt

The youngest Bridgerton was excited when it looked like Daphne might marry Prince Friedrich (Freddie Stroma) in season 1. Her presence is expected to grow in later seasons of the show as she gets older. For those of you reading the Bridgerton books, her big moment comes in book no. 7, It's in His Kiss, when she meets Gareth St. Clair.

Got all of that? Good. Now before you go, maybe consider picking up a few (or all!) of the Bridgerton books below so you have something to read while waiting for season 2 to drop. We promise, it'll make the wait much easier.
