Everyone could use a little kindness these days — particularly, the retail workers who have demonstrated a heightened sense of service and commitment to families, communities and businesses amid a global pandemic.

That’s why Verizon is asking its customers to think about the person behind the mask and see the real human who is helping them in its latest social good initiative, A Call for Kindness.

The campaign idea stemmed from Verizon’s pride in its employees’ impressive handling of this truly unprecedented year.

“Every day, they show up eager and ready to provide stellar service,” the company said in a press release. “And while a mask may cover their face, we know they are smiling underneath.”

Verizon says it hopes that by reminding others that its own team members are someone’s mother, father, grandparent, sibling, partner and friend, it can encourage customers to “treat our employees like they would their loved ones and extend the same consideration and care they receive.”

“After all, kindness is always welcome in our stores,” the company said.

Verizon is joined by Capital One, Cellular Sales, GoWireless, Russell Cellular, TCC, Victra, Wireless Zone and documentary film The Antidote in supporting the campaign.

“We hope this campaign brings a smile to your face and encourages you to join and spread the joy,” Verizon said. “This is an opportunity to share what makes us human and connected.”
