A young father who died in a car crash on Friday was driving home to see his toddler ahead of Christmas, it has been reported.

Rowan Jones, 22, who was described as the “most thoughtful, kind and caring person”, died in the incident near Bangor, Wales, late on 18 December.

His vehicle was the only one involved in the crash on the A4244.

The Sun has reported that he was travelling home to see his 20-month-old son Osian.

In a statement, his family said he was a “proud and loving dad” who “lived for his family”.

“The thought that Osian will grow up without his fantastic, fun-loving, adventurous dad has broken our hearts,” it said.

His mother Emma-Jane said: “He would help anyone and was the most thoughtful, kind and caring person that anyone would be proud to call their son.

“My life without him will be empty, but filled with love for the joy he gave to others and his memory will live on through April and Osian.

“Rowan was the person who held the family together.

“With his love of cooking and entertaining, he was forever organising meals and celebrations, or would suggest days out and excursions that will live on in our memories forever.

“Whether it was teaching his nephew Toby how to cook, or introducing Osian to the fun of drumming, he was always encouraging, helping and supporting others.”

Jones had started working at a Morrisons supermarket, having previously been a chef and barista.

North Wales Police said they are appealing for witnesses to the incident and are looking for dashcam footage.

Officers are hoping for video that shows what weather and road conditions were like at the time.

Sergeant Raymond Williams, who is leading the investigation, said: “I met Rowan’s family and my heart goes out to them as they deal with such a tragic unexpected loss.”
