Today’s Royal Ascot racegoers didn’t let rain and drizzle dampen their spirits as they kicked off Ladies Day in a bevvy of feathered hats and bold hues.

Typically the most fashion-forward event of the five-day festival in Berkshire, Thursday’s Gold Cup Day saw racing fans dressed to the nines to celebrate the world’s most celebrated and stylish day at the races.

In line with Covid restrictions, just 12,000 revellers have been granted tickets to each day of Royal Ascot as part of a series of pilot events taking place before lockdown lifts.

Among the best-dressed attendees was equestrian and Olympian Zara Tindall, who looked effortless in a black floral puff sleeve dress, RayBans shades and a pale pink fascinator.

Elsewhere, fuchsia was the colour of the day. Milliner Victoria Grant opted for a boucle fuchsia suit with matching feathered fuchsia hat, while fashion stylist Nicole Smallwood looked super chic in a De La Vali hot pink maxi paired with black accessories.

Dating app entrepreneur Valerie Stark meanwhile looked every bit the boss in a black Valentino look paired with hot pink accessories.
