Yahoo Finance The Royal Family release previously unseen photo of Prince Philip with his great-grandchildren
The royal family has shared touching photos of Prince Philip with his great-grandchildren, as the late Duke of Edinburgh was "remembered as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather".
Kensington Palace posted a previously unseen picture of Philip surrounded by seven of his great-grandchildren, which was taken by keen photographer the Duchess of Cambridge in 2018 at Balmoral castle.
"Captured by The Duchess of Cambridge, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh surrounded by seven of their great-grandchildren at Balmoral Castle in 2018," the post read.
Philip's great-grandchildren include Prince George, Prince Louis, who is sitting on the Queen's lap, Princess Charlotte, Isla Phillips, who is holding Lena Tindall, Mia Tindall, and Savannah Phillips.
Philip is seated between Charlotte and Savannah, the daughter of Peter Phillips, the only son of Princess Anne.
The palace shared a second picture featuring the monarch and Philip with Prince William and Kate, who is holding a very small Princess Charlotte, while William holds George's hand. The picture was taken at Balmoral in 2015.
"Today we share, along with Members of @theroyalfamily, photographs of The Duke of Edinburgh, remembering him as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather," the caption read.
The Queen traditionally spends her summer holiday at Balmoral in in Scotland, where the Cambridge family also has a residence.
William and Kate previously paid tribute to Prince Philip, who died "peacefully" in his sleep at Windsor Castle on April 9.
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh," the royal couple wrote in a statement.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss. Further announcements will be made in due course."
Philip's funeral will take place at St George's Chapel in Windsor on Saturday, April 17. Only be 30 guests permitted at the service due to coronavirus restrictions.
