The royal family is remembering the life of Prince Philip by sharing previously unseen photographs of the late royal surrounded by his family.

Yesterday, the official royal Instagram account shared a never-before-seen photo of the Queen and Prince Philip posing with seven of their 10 great-grandchildren. The sweet image was captured by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and features the three children she shares with Prince William: Prince George, Princess Charlotte (cheekily waving in the centre), and a then-newborn Prince Louis. Zara Tindall's girls, Lena and Mia Tindall, and Peter Phillips' daughters, Savannah and Isla Phillips, also appear in the image.

"The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh surrounded by seven of their great-grandchildren at Balmoral Castle in 2018," read the post's caption.

Because the photo was taken back in 2018, three of the queen and Philip's great-grandchildren are missing from the portrait. Prince Harry and Meghan's first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was not born until May 2019. Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child, a baby boy named August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, in February of this year. Zara Tindall and her husband, Mike Tindall, welcomed a new baby boy, Lucas Philip Tindall, in March. Later this summer, Harry and Meghan are expecting their second child, a baby girl, who will become the monarch's 11th great-grandchild.

Members of the royal family have been commemorating Philip's life on social media following the duke's passing last Friday. William and Kate shared a photo from 2015 featuring the couple alongside the Queen and the royal consort with a young George and baby Charlotte at Balmoral.

Prince Charles and Camilla also shared a series of vintage images.

"Remembering The Duke of Edinburgh as a much-loved Father and Father-in-Law," the caption read.
