The Royal Family wished the Duchess of Sussex a happy birthday today as she turns 40 years old.

The Queen’s official Twitter account and Instagram stories featured three photographs of the Duchess; one with Her Majesty, one with the Duke of Sussex and another of the couple holding baby Archie.

Alongside the images a message read, “wishing the Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday today!”

The Duke of Duchess of Cambridge joined in the well wishes with a relaxed photograph of their sister-in-law smiling on the beach. They added, “Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!” and shared the post on their official instagram story.

The Clarence House social media accounts for the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall also had a special birthday message for their daughter-in-law, Megan.

The couple opted for a close up smiling photograph and said they were, “Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday.”

Megan and Harry are currently living in California with their son Archie and newest arrival, baby Lilibet. Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was named in honour of the Queen’s nickname as a child and well as Princess Diana, who is the late grandmother of Lilibet.

Prince William and Harry came together for the first time in public last month to unveil a new statue of Princess Diana in Hyde Park, London. The event took place on 1 July, which would have been their mother's 60th birthday.
