The RSPCA has launched an investigation to find the owner of a terrified dog who was discovered ‘emaciated and dying’ after being dumped in a Manchester park bush.

The Jack Russel-Terrier cross was discovered loosely wrapped in a coat and freezing cold by a dog walker in Clayton Vale park.

She was taken to a PDSA Pet Wellbeing Centre in Manchester to undergo emergency treatment.

The canine was dehydrated and was found with her bones protruding from her body.

Vets believe she was left at the location overnight as she displayed signs of hypothermia.

Sadly, her condition was so bad that vets could not save the poor animal and she was put to sleep.

A spokesman for the animal welfare charity said: "The dog was not microchipped and because of her neglected condition, the vet reported the matter to the RSPCA."

Investigating RSCPA Inspector Jessica Arajo said: “This poor dog must have been terrified as she was basically left to suffer a lingering death and all alone.

“I cannot comprehend how anyone could do such a thing and leave a pet in her hour of need.

“Clearly she had been suffering for a long time as she was so emaciated, then to abandon her on a really cold night is beyond belief.

"I am hoping someone will recognise the dog and be able to identify the owner, she was found wrapped in a size 12 brown bomber jacket at the time, which may also provide a clue to who she belonged to.

“I would also like to speak to the kind dog-walker who found her as he may be able to provide me with some more details which will help the investigation.”
