RuPaul collaborates with Balenciaga on merchandise collection

RuPaul has teamed up with Balenciaga on a limited-edition collection of merchandise.

The luxury fashion house has tapped the drag icon for a small range of T-shirts and hoodies which feature the words "Balenciaga Music Limited Edition Merch" in spray-stencil lettering on the front followed by RuPaul's signature.

The limited-edition line is comprised of small fit and oversized T-shirts, cropped pullover hoodies, wide fit zip-up hoodies and a cap in a colour palette of light beige, grey, and black. Prices range from $350 (£250) to $795 (£572).

To promote the line, Balenciaga reps shared a picture on Instagram of the RuPaul's Drag Race star wearing the small fit T-shirt along with hotpants, fishnet tights, and strappy platform heels while posing on a set of stairs. The photo has proved popular as the piece has already sold out.

RuPaul also enlisted New York club night icon Susanne Bartsch to model one of the garments and she took a more unconventional approach to the job.

In her promotional snap, Susanne can be seen laying on a marble floor as if she is passed out. One of the hoodies has been laid over her body and she is clutching the cap, and the look is finished off with black thigh-high heeled boots.

Sharing the image on Instagram, RuPaul wrote, "Queen Susanne @bartschland wearing limited-edition Balenciaga x RuPaul merch," while Susanne wrote alongside her photo, "My Selfie for @balenciaga such an honor to be part of this fab project! thank you my love @rupaulofficial this will be me after this Pride weekend."

In addition to the merch line, RuPaul has also curated an Apple Music playlist for the house which features musicians such as ABBA, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna.
