Singer Russell Watson has been announced as a late addition to the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp.

Watson is a classically trained singer, who has released music in both operatic and pop styles.

The 53-year-old rose to fame in 1999 after singing at the Rugby League Challenge Cup final and the Uefa Champion’s League final.

Since 2001, he has released 13 studio albums, the most recent two being collaborations with Aled Jones.

Between 2006 and 2008, Watson was forced to delay much of his music after initially being diagnosed with a benign pituitary tumour. It was removed but later regrew and caused a bleeding on his brain, with the singer needing emergency surgery and extensive rehabilitation.

He returned to music in 2008 after completing radiotherapy.

Watson will be joining I’m a Celebrity during Wednesday (18 November) night’s show as he takes part in the challenge Stage Fright along with fellow new campmate, musical theatre star Ruthie Henshall.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs nightly at 9pm on ITV.
