Russell Westbrook blames self for getting ejected after scuffle with Rajon Rondo: 'I've got to be better'

Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook allowed his emotions to get the best of him during Friday’s 116-100 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Westbrook was ejected from the contest after earning two technical fouls as a result of Rajon Rondo.

While Westbrook and Rondo were going back and forth all game, Westbrook blamed himself for getting ejected, saying he can’t allow himself to “stoop down to anybody’s level.”

Westbrook admitted there was some trash talking involved, but said he’s “got to be better” in those situations.

Russell Westbrook and Rajon Rondo went at it all game

It was pretty clear Rondo and Westbrook were at odds the entire game. Both players picked up their first technicals after getting into an altercation in the second quarter. Westbrook earned his second technical, and his ejection, after shoving Rondo in the fourth quarter.

Rondo took plenty of joy in that development, immediately pointing to the locker room and waving to Westbrook as he walked off the court.

While Westbrook understands he messed up here, he has plenty to be frustrated about this season. Despite Bradley Beal and Westbrook, the Wizards have the worst record in the NBA at 3-12.
