SP, Brazil (AP) _ Companhia de Saneamento Basico do Estado de Sao Paulo (SBS) on Thursday reported first-quarter earnings of $171.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Sp, Brazil-based company said it had net income of 25 cents.

The waste management company posted revenue of $1.03 billion in the period.

Sabesp shares have climbed 50% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 33% in the last 12 months.
