Pretty as a picture, Samsung’s The Frame TV is designed to hang on your wall like a work of art. Unlike regular 4K flatscreens, it can be fitted with a gallery-style picture frame bezel, to better display artworks and photographs when in standby.
The Frame is ideal for those looking for something more from their next TV. A novel Art Mode allows you to display works of art, both classic and modern. For the widest collection of digital art, you can subscribe to the Samsung Art Store, which has over 1400 images available. The set can also show your own photographs.

Naturally, The Frame looks great with regular telly too. It boasts a 4K QLED HDR panel, and uses a Quantum 4K picture processor noted for supreme detail and colour vibrancy (doubtless great for watching Portrait Artist of the Year).
This 2021 iteration of The Frame is also super thin (close to half the depth of its predecessor), and is designed to flush mount. A slim fit wall mount included.
One reason it’s so thin is that loads of electronics have been hived out to a separate box that delivers TV pictures and power to the screen over a single thin optical cable. If you have a TV box or Blu-ray player, these hook directly to this One Connect box, rather than the set itself, which greatly simplifies the amount of cable spaghetti you have to manage. You will need to find a place to park the box though, because the box is quite bulky.
A key attraction of The Frame is the ability to customise it with interchangeable bezels. Magnetic, they can be easily stuck on or changed. John Lewis sells a variety of different colours and styles, so you can match the screen to your room’s interiors.

What’s more, light sensors are used to automatically monitor ambient light and adjust picture settings accordingly, while motion sensors can automatically switch on the TV to present art when someone walks into a room.
Naturally, The Frame has all the regular streaming apps. Samsung’s Tizen smart platform comes with Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV+, Now TV, Britbox, BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub, to name just a few, and it works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Bixby for voice control.
The Frame has been a huge success for Samsung. The brand says it sold a million last year alone, and it’s not difficult to see why.
