The inimitable Sandra Oh will lead Netflix's upcoming comedy drama The Chair, which finally has a UK release date.

In the series created by actress Amanda Peet, the Killing Eve star plays Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim, who is navigating her new role as the Chair of the English department at prestigious Pembroke University. Ji-Yoon is faced with a unique set of challenges as the first woman to chair the department, and as one of the few staff members of colour at the university.

Discussing the themes the drama tackles, Sandra said: "In her first year, she is taking on patriarchy, sexism, ageism, what it is to be a single mum, being stuck between two cultures, speaking two languages, and it's all a comedy.

"So it's about many things. Mostly what it is, is what it's like to live right now with all the things I think everyone is going through - questioning things, questioning the patriarchy, questioning institutions, questioning the education system. And you basically see this English department try and muddle their way through a controversial event."

The Chair will launch on Netflix on Friday, August 20th at 8am.
