Sarah Harding has thanked fans for their "kind and loving messages" on the release day of her memoir Hear Me Out.

The Girls Aloud singer said the book had started out as a "dream" last summer and had now become "a reality".

It comes as the 39-year-old publicly divulged last August that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer which had spread to other parts of her body.

In a post to social media she shared: "I can’t thank everyone enough for all the kind and loving messages that I’ve received since the weekend. It means so much to me and to my mum. Today’s a special day because it’s publication day for Hear Me Out. At last. I actually can’t believe I’ve done it!

"What started out a dream idea last summer is now a reality. I hope you enjoy reading my story. The picture on the front of the book was taken by the amazing @ruthrosephotos a few years ago.

"I thought I’d share this little behind the scenes shot here. It’s a lot more sophisticated than some of the older pics in the book, haha! Can’t wait for you all to see them. Sending lots of love as always, S x."

Ahead of the book's publication various excerpts have been published, including one where Harding stated doctors have told her she will probably not live to see another Christmas.

The memoir also details a private reunion Harding enjoyed with her former bandmates Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts last year after sharing news of her cancer.

Harding explained it had been around eight years since the group had all been together after officially splitting in 2013.

"There was much reminiscing. We decided to watch all the episodes of Girls Aloud: Off the Record, which was the documentary-style behind-the-scenes TV show we’d made for E4 in 2006," she wrote.

Girls Aloud rose to fame after winning ITV's Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.
