From Good Housekeeping

Always forgetting to turn the lights off when you leave the house? Like the idea of being able to set lighting schedules when you’re not in to deter thieves? Or do you simply want to experiment with using bulbs that aren’t plain white? You need a set of smart lights.

While some of these can be pricey, we’ve spotted that the GHI top-performer, the Philips Hue bulbs, are on sale on Prime Day with £60 off its starter pack of three. That’s nearly half price!

Earning a near-perfect score of 92/100, these smart lights topped the team’s tests – and are packed with more features than any others on the market.

Providing much more control and flexibility than your standard bulbs, these smart lights are guaranteed to work with all voice assistants, so you can switch them on and off without having to hit the switch. This will come in handy during chilly winter nights when you might not want to get out of bed to turn them off.

Of course, you can also control them via the smartphone app, even when you're not there, as well as set schedules. You can opt to have the lights come on automatically when you get home and switch off as soon as you leave, based on your phone’s location.

As a bit of a novelty, you can set any colour you like, so you can have non-standard mood lighting schemes for lockdown film nights at home and even set them to sync to the beat of any music you have playing, for impromptu rule-of-six dance parties.

The only thing the GHI didn’t like so much is the cost – they’re at the higher end of the market at just under £50 for one bulb when full price, which is what makes this deal so much better. (If these are still a little steep, have a look at the deal on the runners-up, too.) We’re pretty sold – pick up a pack or two here on Amazon, but remember to be quick, as these deals are only on until midnight tonight.
