This scrunchie can help dry your hair faster and with less heat — seriously

I’ll admit, scrunchies are the ’80s and ’90s hair trend I didn’t see coming for 2020. But now, I have a bunch of them lying around my apartment, from velvet and silk to patterned. Next on my shopping list, however, are the Kitsch Microfiber Towel Scrunchies.

These aren’t your ordinary scrunchies. As implied by the name, they’re super absorbent (like a towel) and soak up excess water in your hair, which, in turn, can accelerate your hair drying time.

Once you’re out of the shower, secure your wet hair while you go about your business — you know, brushing your teeth, applying your makeup — whatever you do before getting out the hair dryer. Or, you don’t have to use a hair dryer at all.

One Ulta reviewer called the towel scrunchies “amazing” and said they wear them to sleep at night with wet hair.

“I wake up with my hair only slightly damp now and [with] waves/curls for days. I run a blow dryer through my hair for maybe five minutes to spruce it up and BOOM, ready for the day!” they wrote.

The Kitsch Towel Scrunchies are also great for taking to the beach, gym, your boyfriend’s apartment or for travel. You can even get them in a two-pack for $14 at Ulta.

However, if you have longer, thicker hair or aren’t into the whole scrunchie thing, the Aquis Rapid Dry Lisse Hair Turban may be more your style.

This towel turban ties your wet hair up as you would do with a classic towel. However, it’s made with Aquitex, an innovative fabric made with ultra-fine fibers that are designed to wick away water and is gentle with hair, the product description says. It also has an elastic loop and button for keeping it tight and securely on your head.

It’s made to gently dry hair to a damp stage with less friction so you can minimize your hair drying time, whether you’re letting it air dry or hitting it with a hair dryer.

“This turban is the absolute best. You don’t have to rub your hair at all, just wrap it up. This thing sucks out the water much better than any other towel I’ve tried. I also appreciate the button that securely holds everything in place,” wrote a reviewer at Ulta, where it’s sold for $32. (You can also buy it directly on Aquis’ site for $30.)

No matter which towel drying method you choose, the less wet your hair is before using hot tools, the less time it takes to dry and the less heat you apply to your strands. So, be good to your hair and get it a cute scrunchie or turban or something.
