Sebastian Suhl Named CEO of New Luxury Packaging Group

MILAN — Sebastian Suhl, the former Trussardi chief executive officer and a Prada and Valentino alum, has been named CEO of Mosaiq Group, a new entity grouping companies that specialize in luxury and sustainable packaging. Mosaiq was established by a private equity investor.

Suhl — who left Trussardi in March 2023 amid a company shakeup, following which the brand was eventually sold to Italian fashion group Miroglio — is to spearhead Mosaiq’s transformation into a European leader in luxury packaging, a fragmented sector, leveraging the expertise of the individual companies that are part of the group.

They include paper-box maker Valtenna; Bulgarelli Production, specialized in paper tags and labels; D’Auria Packaging, which produces paper shopping bags; Co.Ri, specialized in fabric bags, and Brand Label, which develops fabric labels.

Private equity investor Arca Space Capital, promoted by Arca Fondi SGR and Space Capital Advisors, controls Mosaiq Group with a 68 percent stake and led the acquisitions of the five packaging firms.

As part of the deal, the five founding families behind the packaging players reinvested in the group, each owning 32 percent of Mosaiq Group. The founding entrepreneurs will also remain in leadership roles at their companies.

Mosaiq Group has about 300 employees and yearly revenues of 70 million euros.

“I’m honored to be part of the founding project of Mosaiq Group, an entity combining the vision and industrial excellence of a group of Made in Italy entrepreneurs to the managerial and financial resources brought about by Arca Space Capital,” said Suhl. “I’m convinced that Mosaiq Group can become a leading interlocutor in international markets capable to effectively meet the needs of luxury clients, marked by a strong focus on sustainability.”

In addition to Suhl, Mosaiq Group has named Stefano Lazzari its chairman, a non-executive role. A seasoned manager with experience in the packaging industry, having worked for companies including Fabbri Group and Sirap Group, Lazzari touted Mosaiq Group for being “integrated and strongly synergistic,” with the right features to implement an innovative strategy in luxury packaging.

The newly created Arca Space Capital is committed to creating value investing in leading firms in the “real economy,” said Ugo Loeser, CEO of Arca Fondi SGR. He described Mosaiq Group as a new entity “with great growth potential and defined by an innovative industrial strategy, resulting from the consolidation of the expertise of five leading companies in luxury packaging.”

Suhl joined Trussardi at the end of October 2020. He was previously managing director of global markets at Valentino, and before that, he was CEO of Marc Jacobs International. He also formerly worked at Givenchy and Prada Group.
