The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Knowles

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the President of Performance Audio, Christian Scherp, sold US$523k worth of shares at a price of US$20.93 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even slightly below the current price of US$21.27. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. This single sale was just 40% of Christian Scherp's stake.

Insider Ownership of Knowles

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Knowles insiders own 1.3% of the company, worth about US$26m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Knowles Insiders?

Insiders haven't bought Knowles stock in the last three months, but there was some selling. And even if we look to the last year, we didn't see any purchases. But it is good to see that Knowles is growing earnings. While insiders do own shares, they don't own a heap, and they have been selling. So we'd only buy after careful consideration.
