Serena Williams is making a docuseries about her life for Amazon

Serena Williams is swinging into the TV business. The tennis champion announced that she signed a first-look deal with Amazon Studios, and one of the projects she's working on is a docuseries about her own life.

The project, which she'll also executive-produce, will follow Williams' personal and professional life "through my eyes and through my lens," she said in a conversation with Michael B. Jordan for Vanity Fair.

In a statement shared with Deadline, the 23-time Grand Slam champ also said, "I have a lot of stories I'm eager to tell, including a continuation of my own, and I look forward to sharing those with the world".

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, spoke highly of the new partnership with Williams, praising her as "one of the most inspiring athletes, entrepreneurs and women of her generation, admired not only for her unmatched prowess on the court but for her dedication to advocacy as well".

At the moment, the project doesn't have a release date. But when the series does premiere, it will debut directly on Prime Video.

Of course, this won't be the first time Williams's story has been portrayed on-screen. In 2018, she starred in a five-part HBO Sports documentary, Being Serena, which covered major moments in her life, such as giving birth to her daughter and marrying her husband, Alexis Ohanian. Warner Bros. is also working on King Richard, a drama following Serena and Venus Williams's dad, Richard Williams, which is set to release in November.

Williams' foray into TV producing is the latest expansion of her empire, from her fashion line S by Serena to co-owning a women's soccer team and beyond.
