Sharon Stone has issued a lawsuit against rapper Chanel West Coast over a track called ‘Sharon Stoned’.

Chanel West Coast - aka Los Angeles-born Chelsea Dudley - unveiled the track last year, repeating the words ‘Sharon’ and ‘stoned’ dozens of times in the track's intro and throughout the rest of the song.

The Basic Instinct actress has taken issue with the track in a lawsuit filed at the the Central District of California.

“During the Song, Defendant Dudley gratuitously repeats the name 'Sharon Stone' 33 times and the name 'Sharon' 99 times,” the suit says.

It points out Stone's movie CV and her extensive philanthropic work, and that she maintains “strict control over the manner in which her name, likeness, image, identity and persona are used”.

The lawsuit adds: “Defendant Dudley has sought to enhance her stature as a rapper by invoking and trading on the celebrity status and fame of others,” and has done so “for commercial purposes without [Stone's] consent”.

The suit says the track's video, which features rapper Redman and actor Michael Rapaport, also trades on her likeness, claiming it references her performances in Basic Instinct and Casino.

Stone is suing for an undisclosed amoun, and seeks a jury trial into the alleged infringement.

West Coast has yet to comment on the suit, but the video is still available to view on YouTube.
