Shell Convent refinery preparing alkylation unit restart –sources

HOUSTON, May 24 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell Plc (LSE: 0LN9.L - news) 's 235,000-barrel-per-day (bpd) Convent, Louisiana, refinery was preparing to restart the alkylation unit on Wednesday, sources familiar with plant operations said.

The 16,500-bpd alkylation unit, which converts refining byproducts into octane-boosting gasoline components, tripped out of production on Tuesday, the sources said. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Bill Trott)
