Shell JV Deer Park FCC set for restart early next week - sources

(Adds company no comment)

HOUSTON, June 24 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell (Xetra: A0ET6Q - news) 's joint-venture 285,500 barrel per day (bpd) Deer Park, Texas refinery is on schedule to restart the gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit by early next week, sources familiar with plant operations said on Friday.

The 70,000 bpd FCCU was shut on Tuesday to repair a leaking line on the unit, the sources said. A clamp was fabricated on Thursday to stop the leak.

A Shell (LSE: RDSB.L - news) spokesman declined to discuss operations at the Deer Park refinery. On Tuesday, the company said a Deer Park unit "experienced an operational upset." Shell did not identify the unit involved.

The Deer Park refinery is a 50-50 joint venture between Shell and Pemex, Mexico's national oil company. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Marguerita Choy)
