Shell refinery restarts Deer Park, Texas, reformer -sources

HOUSTON, Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) 7 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Plc's 285,500 barrel per day (bpd) joint-venture Deer Park, Texas, refinery restarted a catalytic reformer after completing repairs on Tuesday, said sources familiar with plant operations said on Wednesday.

The 45,900 bpd Catalytic Reformer 3 underwent six days of repairs to a pinhole leak near a valve before restarting on Tuesday, the sources said.

Energy industry intelligence service Genscape said the reformer, which converts refining by-products into octane-boosting component in gasoline, returned to operational levels by midnight CST on Tuesday (0600 GMT Wednesday).

The Deer Park refinery is a 50-50 joint venture between Shell (LSE: RDSB.L - news) and Mexico's national oil company Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
