Shell shuts FCC for a week at 70,000 bpd Ontario refinery -source

(Updates with FCC capacity and no comment from company)

July 6 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell (Xetra: R6C1.DE - news) shut down a fluid catalytic cracker at its 70,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Sarnia, Ontario, on Monday for a week of maintenance, according to a source familiar with the plant's operations.

The company is replacing the exchanger in the 27,000 bpd catalytic cracker - a main gasoline producer - and the unit is expected to restart by the end of the week, the source said.

The company declined to comment, saying it does not discuss maintenance activities. (Reporting By Jarrett Renshaw; Editing by Chizu Nomiyama; and Peter Galloway)
