Shell's Deer Park, Texas crude unit shut up to 2 weeks - sources

HOUSTON, Aug 18 (Reuters) - The large crude distillation unit at Royal Dutch Shell Plc (LSE: 0LN9.L - news) 's 325,700 barrel per day (bpd) joint-venture Deer Park, Texas, refinery may be shut for up to two weeks of repairs from a Thursday fire, sources familiar with plant operations said on Friday.

The refinery's gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit and hydrocracker are out of production due to loss of feed from the shut CDU, the sources said. The coker unit is near shutdown.

Production has been reduced on the olefins unit in the adjoining Shell Chemical Plant, the sources said. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by James Dalgleish)
