(Adds Shell comment)
HOUSTON, June 21 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell Plc (Xetra: A0ET6Q - news) shut the gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit at the 316,600 barrel per day (bpd) joint-venture Deer Park, Texas refinery on Tuesday for unplanned repairs, said sources familiar with plant operations.
Shell (LSE: RDSB.L - news) spokesman Ray Fisher said a unit at the Deer Park refinery experienced "an operational upset. Flaring may be associated with this upset. There are no injuries and no reported environmental impacts."
The 70,000 bpd FCCU is expected to return to production by early next week after a leak in pipeline on the unit is repaired, the sources said.
Fisher declined to identify the unit that malfunctioned.
