Shell's Norco, Louisiana, chemical plant plans overhaul -sources

(Adds company statement)

HOUSTON, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell Plc (LSE: 0LN9.L - news) plans to shut a portion of an olefins unit at its Norco, Louisiana, chemical plant next week for an overhaul of the heat exchanger, sources familiar with plant operations said.

Shell (LSE: RDSB.L - news) spokesman Ray Fisher declined to discuss operations at the chemical plant, but said the company routinely planned maintenance for the safe operation of its equipment.

Shell told nearby residents on Monday that upcoming maintenance at the Norco complex, which includes a 225,800-barrel-per-day (bpd) crude oil refinery, may cause loud rumbling. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Peter Cooney)
