Sit in front of cam for 9 hours if you want to work from home: B'luru company issues clarification

Two days after a Twitter user (Unicon Baba) alleged that a Bengaluru start-up had advised its employees to work from home only if they are seated in front of their computer camera for nine working hours, the logistics based company Shadowfax issued a clarification on their official Twitter handle terming the allegations as ‘baseless.’

With many companies around the world and in India adopting a work-from-home approach amid the coronavirus outbreak, Shadowfax had earlier come under fire from netizens for allegedly issuing a bizarre diktat to its employees.

The twitter user alleged that the start-up had threatened employees to follow the order or they will face consequences. The user took to Twitter to express his disbelief:

Well, Abhishek the founder is the one threatening teams to have their camera's ON or else they will have to come to work in person in the office. No one is questioning if a company should function or not, its a business and should absolutely run.

Shadowfax was in the news in 2019 for attracting — as a start-up — a $60-million investment from Walmart-owned Flipkart.
