Smiths Group steals Vesuvius CFO Chris O'Shea

LONDON (ShareCast) - Technology outfit Smiths Group (Other OTC: SMGKF - news) has appointed Vesuvius (LSE: VSVS.L - news) ' chief financial officer Chris O'Shea as its new finance director. O'Shea, who previously held senior finance posts at BG Group (LSE: BG.L - news) and Shell (LSE: RDSB.L - news) , replaces Peter Turner who stepped down last week to return to his position as vice president of global finance at Smiths Medical.

Rob White will continue as interim CFO until O'Shea starts on 18 September.

Molten metal flow engineering group Vesuvius said the process of identifying O'Shea's successor was already underway.

Chief executive Philip Bowman said he was "delighted" by the appointment.

"He arrives at an exciting time as we continue to invest in our Engineered for Growth programme to accelerate top-line performance.

"His strong finance skills and corporate experience of the engineering and multi-national energy sectors will greatly benefit our business," Bowman said.
